Baseball Life

“What’s that girl doing here?”
Anger, frustration,
Redemption in mind.

Wind rustling the grass and leaves.
A perfect day for baseball.
Occupying the field,
Sweat glistening on my forehead.
A hit,
Down the third base line,
Scooped up,
Thrown at me.
Caught!
Out!

Up at the plate,
Bat in hand,
Staring forward in pure concentration,
Here comes the pitch down the plate.
Swing!
Crack!
Flying in deep right field.
Adrenaline pumping,
Feet pounding,
Rounding each base at a time.
Sliding at home.
Oh the joy!

“Good Game!”
Satisfied, pride,
My skills proven.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I actually wrote this for my 7th grade PE class about a year ago. It's not my best, but I did enjoy writing it.
This is based off of one day in my many days of baseball. Unfortuneatly, my baseball life has been cut short simply because I'm a girl.
