Forever Black

It has been eight years since I first donned you
How the hell did I know where you would take me
For when forever black envelops you
That's when you see misery
Misery in the eyes of the souls that hate you
Misery in the cries of the ones who loved you
For I have seen it all
I have been there when blood flowed like a thousand rivers
I have been there when hearts were torn to a thousand slivers
I was there when evil crushed the spirits of good
And I've been there when righteousness did all it could
There are too many things that my mind's eye has seen
Too many dark knights from which my soul did gleam
Now all my friends of the past are dead or in jail
Or they are fleeing across state, for they jumped bail
So now I'm all alone, at last pain has caught up with me
To take it's price upon my flesh it does so lovingly
So start you torture, you've honed it so well
Begin to burn my flesh and relish in the smell
I know you yearn for my soul, but it's not for sale
The only thing you'll get from me, alas, is this tale
My flesh has tasted metal too many times to be afraid of you
But forevermore my life will have a dark hue
