Fable
Earth, water, air and fire. The world in harmony and in perfect sync. Acting as one, they came together to form a blue world. For ages everything ran smoothly, earth started to form mountains, water filled the voids with lakes and oceans, air provided protection and fire destroyed any disruption. The elements seemed happy but they longed to share their abilities with someone or something that could appreciate it. And so, they decided to inspire life in their perfect blue world. Earth came up with the idea of terrestrial animals, all shapes, sizes and colors. He believed that through differentiation, each being could contribute to something wonderful. He also foresaw their need of food and shelter, so he filled the land with trees and flowers that could shield them from the cold winters and the hot summers. Water created special creatures, she cared for them deeply she vowed they would not be able to leave her side nor they would want to. Air knew it was his task to keep those creatures alive. He realized that in order to do so, help would be needed. So he produced oxygen and gave them the breath of life. Fire undertook the greatest responsibility; he would keep all the bodies of the creation warm throughout the years. History ran its course; animals developed all kinds of abilities. Bears, otters, eagles, fish; everyone developed a mind of their own. The four elements were proud of what they created, but they didn’t anticipate the animals’ response. As species adapted and fought for recognition, a notion of superiority fixated in their minds. Knowing that earth, water, air and fire were responsible for their existence; they believed that the creature that possessed the most of them would be the master of the world. First came the otters that believed they were entitled to possess all of the water they desired. They began their quest to become rulers of the world. They believed no other animal could transform wood and other materials earth supplied, as they could. Then came several insects, which despite their size decided that they would own the earth by eating everything they had to offer. This way, no other creature could gain control over them. Soon, chaos ruled that blue land; the creators all saw their inspiration turn selfish and destructive. The elements, amongst the chaos, decided to end it all. The living disrupted the perfect harmony on the blue world. The elements believed in equality and respect from each other was what made their world great, they thought that the creatures would act upon their beliefs. Instead the animals saw themselves superior to the elements, they thought that the world was to be dominated by one of them. That was not life’s purpose, but it was the end.
