Whatever happened to
happily ever after?
All these one night stands
and friends with benefits
have ruined true love.
When did courtship turn into
a game of cat and dog
rather than cat and mouse?
Where are the chivalrous gentlemen
that hold doors and pull out chairs?
How come men don't ask women
out on real dates anymore
instead of going out for coffee?
And why do couples go dutch;
why don't men feel they should pay
for the company of a woman?
Why have gender expections changed so much?
Did women bring it upon themselves
by wanting to be treated like equals?
Call me old-fashioned but I want someone
who will pursue me every day,
say "I love you" just because,
do everything in their power
to make me feel adored.
