In the Moment

We trip ourselves up,
falling constantly
on obstacles we placed
in our own paths.

We waste our energy
worrying about things
that will never
come to fruition.

We hold onto grudges
that were created
in our own minds
when we should just let go.

We give these illusions
footing in our thoughts
and wondering why peace
has run away.

We walk backwards
instead of moving forward,
living in the past
and not in in the present.

We miss so much
blinded by the trivial,
we need to be right here
staying in the moment.
