Ashes

Folder:
Dedications

After your home burns down
to the ground,
you can't do anything.

Your body is frozen
by the flames.

Your thoughts settle
on the causal spark.

Nothing feels real.

Everything moves
in slow motion.

You are in utter shock,
but the pain seeps in slowly.

The smoke in your lungs
makes it hard to breathe.

Your eyes burn from crying.

All you can do now is
sit here in the ashes.

You have to collect
what's left of your life
and rebuild.

One year later and I miss you more than ever.
