So-Called Progress

Folder:
Society

All this so-called progress

hasn’t gotten us anywhere.

We have prosperity,

but we still want more.

We know so much,

Yet remain ignorant.

We think too much,

but don’t feel anything.

We gained technology,

yet we lost our humanity.

We invented things to

bring us together.

But we are more

segregated than ever.

We are victims of a system,

the byproduct of bureaucracy.

Power corrupted

the hearts of our leaders.

Greed changed

men’s characters.

We cannot give into

the machines.

We are still human

underneath all the lies.

If we shed the layers,

we are made of the same fabric

since the beginning of time:

love.
