Better Off

I convinced myself
that what I felt for you was love
but I was just lonely
and you gave me
the attention I was craving.

I trusted you
and believed your words
but all this time
I was counting on a lie.

I gave you
pieces of my heart
only to find you
didn’t even care about me.

I ran back to you
thinking things had changed,
but you were the same
sorry excuse for a man.

You played me
and betrayed me.

I thought I needed you,
but you were a disease
and I was better off
without you.
