You Covered Me

Folder:
God (Inspired by)

My cover’s wearing thin;
I can’t hide behind
this mask anymore.

I can’t pretend
there’s nothing wrong with me
when there is
darkness beneath my skin.

I’m just like them,
forever trying to measure up
when I wasn’t meant to.

I will never be enough
in and of myself.

That’s why
You covered me
and removed my flesh.

Now You set the standard
and don’t expect me
to do anything but let
You make me like You.
