Permission to Speak Freely

Society

I’m tired of the secrets
that close us off from each other.

We are never able to truly have
a deep conversation.

We’re all broken
yet we won’t admit it.

We try so hard to keep the facade,
but it won’t be long
before it falls apart.

We maintain that “fine” face
but it’s slowly unraveling.

Why can’t we be honest?

Won’t it be better for all of us
if we confessed
that we don’t have it together?

We could share our stories
of failure,
of hurt,
of brokenness
and find we have more in common
than we thought.
