Weathering the Storm

My Broken Heart

You roared through
like a tornado,
and I’m here alone
weathering the storm.

My body quakes
from the draft
of your departure.

Heartbreak is a hurricane,
destroying your emotions
with tempestuous tears.

A flood breaks through
the levee without abandon
drowning my hope.

But after a while,
the storm subsides
as I collect my thoughts
and evacuate you.
