The Light on the Horizon

I’m trying to make sense
of empty hands
and quivering lips.

I close my eyes,
but your face haunts
my reflection.

Your crescent mouth
and starry eyes
illuminate my thoughts.

My mind is eclipsed
by mourning.

I lose control of myself-
knees cave in,
tears fall involuntarily.

My heart has been
hollowed out.

But suddenly
the dawn appears,
and I open my eyes.

For once,
the blazing sun doesn’t
feel so unbearable.

I stare into the light
on the horizon,
and hope blinds me.
