If life is a journey,
I’m lost somewhere
on the outskirts of my destiny.

I want to trace my steps back
to where it went wrong
and leave footprints
towards a new destination.

I’m tired of trying again
only to arrive at the same place.

My mistakes follow me
like a second set of marks
left in the ground
cementing my fate.

If life is a journey,
I need a new direction,
a compass to guide me home.
