Your Flaws

Instead of easing my insecurities,
you perpetuate my worst fears
by intensifying my weaknesses.

Is it too much to ask for you
to think about how I am
before you do something
you know will hurt me
even if that is not your intention?

Rather than make me feel better,
you bring me to tears with
the perception of indifference.

But I will not dwell on your flaws;
I will stop asking you
to accept my personality traits,
but somehow change yours.

I must change myself.
