He said
I was valuable.

Then he threw a nickel at me
because that’s what it cost
to buy me.

He said
I was a treasure.

Then he unlocked
my chest
and held my breasts
like jewels.

He sad
I was more beautiful
than diamonds.

Then he chipped away
until I glistened.

I am worth more than this.
