Turning Tables

Folder:
My Broken Heart

I thought I had the upper hand,
but you slammed down
an angry fist
and reversed the blame.

Somehow my wrists
were restrained,
chained by the shame.

I can’t keep living
against the grain
and expecting change
when it splinters the same.

Step by step,
I walk out the door
because...

I just can’t take it anymore.
