Another year gone,

my greatest fears realized-

I’m alone on Christmas Eve.

All these months depressed,

crying myself to sleep,

I forgot why I am here.

Unbroken and unscathed,

I have you to thank for that

but something is still missing.

Then I remember

the story I’ve heard

a million times before.

The reason we’re all here

on this chilly night-

to welcome your birth.

Jesus, my Savior

came to this world

that I would not be alone.

He gave his life

to save mine

so I may have hope.
