God (Inspired by) He came to earth to fulfill
a promise written with quill.
So it begins with a woman
chosen to bear the son of man.
An angel appeared to Mary
about a child she would carry.
Mary’s fiancé became distressed
but angels said the birth was blessed.
Caesar sent to all a decree
just as Scripture had foreseen.
Everyone would be counted
so on donkeys they mounted.
To Bethlehem they traveled
on streets made with gravel.
There was nowhere to lie down
in any inn around the town.
The only place left to sleep
was the stable with the sheep.
The prophecy came to pass
when Jesus was born at last.
Peacefully, the baby boy lay
upon a cradle made of hay.
The shepherds came to witness
what the angels had professed.
The wise men crossed the land
to worship Him, with gifts in hand.
This child who was named Jesus
would soon grow up to save us.
