The Ugliness Inside

So often I think

if you knew who I really was-

the ugliness inside-

you would run so far away.

But you haven't;

you see into me

and you don't turn away,

you don't even blink.

You stare more intently

trying to understand me

with that smile on your face

and those captivating blue eyes.

You make me feel beautiful

in ways no one has before

because to you, I'm more

than just a pretty face.

You've seen beneath the surface

and still you don't see

the flaws in that I see;

you see the beauty within.
