Two Thousand Years

God (Inspired by)

Your heart called me
and I walked towards you.

To be known so intimately
can be intimidating.

The fear can be crippling,
the vulnerability
of drawing near to you.

But my every breath
has brought me here.

You proved your love
was greater than any
this world could offer.

So I moved
closer and closer,
step by step.

You embraced me
against your chest
and whispered in my ear:

"My heart yearned for you
for two thousand years.

I laid my life down
so that you would know
the depth of my love for you."

Lover of my soul,
You died to save me.

How could I not grab

your extended hand?

You took away any doubts
I had holding me back.

You made me brave enough
to surrender my life to you.

And finally we danced
arm-in-arm,
cheek-to-cheek.

And I knew this was
where I was meant to be
for two thousand years.
