Tornado Alley

Folder:
Dedications

That small town
was in the middle
of tornado alley.

The residents
should know better
than to live
in the path of a whirlwind.

But it's all
they've ever known.

They hear
the warning siren
and hunker down.

Trouble's coming,
and it's going to
leave them in rubble.

They're staring into
the eye of destruction.

They aren't ready
for the devastation
even though they've
been through this before.

Used to twisted storms
funneling into their homes,
they sort through  the wreckage
when the dust settles.

They rebuild their houses
the same way as it was,
never learning their lesson.
