Shiny, Pretty Things

Folder:
God (Inspired by)

I'm attracted to shiny, pretty things,
but anything that glitters
tarnishes my soul.

So easily addicted,
every time I get off that high
I come down lower than before.

I want more and more,
never enough to keep me
feeling satisfied.

My heart is so fickle
it beats for what's not best
objects that empty me

rather than fill the void.

I cram my drawers and shelves
with trivial possessions;
I cover my walls with
things that don't matter.

But if I gave you room
to rearrange my life,
would you clean up this mess?

Would you remove the idols
that occupy your place
within my heart?
