My Grandfather's Favorite Fruit

My grandfather was a very happy man, who enjoyed each and every second of his life on earth. His love for me and my cousins was incredibly strong, perceived through his patience, teachings, and games. He was pleased by sharing family time, in which we used to have fun and eat Indian figs, also known as prickly pear fruits. Those green, cactus’ products, also presented in red and yellow colors, where his favorites from all the fruits. I can really understand his favoritism towards them, since they have a very sweet and delicious taste. I can still recall the very first time I try them. I have to admit it was difficult, since its appearance is not agreeable; nevertheless, its lack of beauty can’t compare to its delectable flavor. Whether it was cold, whether it was rainy, or whether it was hot, we always delighted eating cactus figs. My grandfather made us addict for them, buying a full tray outside his home, in Durango. Unfortunately, Ernesto, my gorgeous and incredible grandfather, passed away twelve years from now, when I was a little six-year-old girl, leaving a deep grief inside our hearts. His presence is needed in the family, his house doesn’t feel alive anymore, and my grandma’s happiness has decreased. Nevertheless, his memory has been kept alive since that April 12, maintaining my family united. We still love to eat Indian figs, because its taste reminds us of our beautiful childhood, playing with my grandpa in the slide and the swings of the patio in his ample home. His life and lessons transcended between his relatives, friends, and patients from his dental clinic, who will never forget him.
