Fable – "The Lion's Words"

It was a rainy day in the jungle. As the time passed, the weather got worse, a big electric storm started in the jungle. All the animals thought that something bad was happening. So, in the middle of the day, the Lion called to all the animals to come and listen to his words. “The day has come, my friends. Today is the beginning of the end. Today is the end of the world” said the Lion. After this announcement, all the animals started to freak out, they were screaming and running, trying to get together with their families. Then the Lion said: “Everyone should leave everything and try to find a place to stay while the worst happen”, so every animal did this, leave all their food and started to look for a place to stay during the storm. All the animals found a place to stay, and they waited there a lot of time. It was just 6 hours before midnight and the electric storm and the rain had disappeared and all the animals started to get out of their caves. When they arrived to the place where they used to live, they found that every thing that they had was gone, they had nothing. So, they started to look for the Lion, trying to find an explanation of what was happening. They looked for him until the midnight without success, so they went to sleep. In the morning, they continued looking for him in every place of the jungle. They searched for hours, until they finally found him. The Lion was in a cave, hiding, with all the food of the other animals. Although all the animals were angry, first they wanted to hear the explanation of why the Lion lied to them, and why he has stolen all the food. The Lion came out of the cave where he was hiding and said: “I have to admit it, nothing that I said was true. I saw the weather and I take advantage of it to eat some food. But, I’m not the only one that is wrong. You, all the animals, are wrong. You should not believe in the words of a simple Lion, you should not believe every thing that you are told.” Time passed by and finally the animals forgave the Lion, but they will always remember the words that he said.

The moral of the story is this: that you should not believe every thing that you are told. Sometimes we believe what we are told without knowing if this is true or not, so I think that we should be careful with what we believe.
