Memories

Memories of her haunt him,
Her face is forever etched inside his mind.
A fate so cruel that his lover was taken away,
On that hot unfortunate June day.

He can still remember the feel of her soft skin,
Of the way she looked at him.
Her love shone brightly in her eyes,
The only sound heard was her cries.

Memories of her haunt him,
The feel of her fingertips caressing him.
Or how it felt when she,
Was impressing him with her words of wisdom.

The loss of her is like a phantom limb,
Making him feel grim.
He misses the feel of her lips,
And just for a moment he slips and forgets she's gone.

Memories of her haunt him,
He never learned how to let her go.
She meant so much more to him,
Then she'll ever know and it almost brings him to his knees.
