Can You See?

Folder:
New Reign

It’s the kings we watch die,
Not ourselves in the dirty mirror,
I only can take so much,
Before I take the world,
And crash around the reflection.

Can you see me now?
All broken and bleeding?
Is this what it took?
The literal death of me?

Because you were to busy watching the king,
To see the girl you thought you knew,
Die so slowly inside of her shell,
Done trying to please you, or me.
This is my funeral pyre.

Did you see me, then?
Or does the blood highlight my body now?
Will you ever see my room the same?
Or will it be the place they found the body?

Because they had us all fooled,
That we needed them more than we needed ourselves,
And the ones of us who knew the truth,
You can see where we went,
Do you see the truth now?

Can you see me now?
All broken and bleeding?
Is this what it took?
The literal death of me?

To see that the king was all a lie,
The life we left behind was never really there,
It wasn’t important over the life,
Of the girl you thought you knew.
This is the end of me and the king.
