Throwing Away Love

If you could look into my eyes, you could see it all
So much pain, so much I wish I had never even saw
The touch still burning, stinging on my skin
My thoughts raging; where do I even begin?

I try to move, try to speak, but nothing happens
Tears fall, it seems drops fall by the dozens
All I can do is stare at you, watching you walk away
I know nothing I could do would ever make you stay.

I finally breathe out a whisper, a faint, "I love you."
You won't turn around. Are we really through?
So much love you're willing to let burn to ash
Cutting deeply into our hearts, making a gash?

No such thing as what might have been, it's insane talk
Because of that, I don't want you to continue to walk
You finally turn, your face radiating so much anger
You look at me as if I were some kind of stranger.

I look away, it is to much to try to bear
I slowly remember all the love we did share
The willing to fight for you becomes a force in my heart
Not willing to let you go; not willing for us to part.
