Had I but one more day to live

O Lord, what would it be?

What human offering would I give

To  your eternity?

What venture would I undertake?

What high ambition crown?

What kingdom conquer for your sake

Before the sun went down?

Perhaps the noblest enterprise

Would be the common way

To simply with unclouded eyes

Live out my final day.

Lord, give me yet some work to do,

Some goal I may achieve.

Yet make each day so great with You,

That I may lightly leave.
