As the dust settled
And on our souls
The reality
Of the day
Did prey
The world
Woke up
That day
We realized then
The world in which
We were sure
We were safe
Would never be same
Now for the victims
And the heroes
Whose lives
They did give
With a second thought
Never giving it
On the god forsaken day
We do and forever pray
And those heroes
We will forever thank
For what they did
So that others may live
So long live the home of the brave
And may that freedom flag
Forever wave
