Await Us All (Taken)

Dark Poetry

It’s moving on.

It crawls beneath.

An itch so deep within.

I don’t belong in this skin.

An itch so dolefully matched.

Only by this fractured glass can it be scratched.

I am not part with this flesh.

Zombie, I am not welcome here.

Sorry, I am not welcome there in you.

Give it all to someone who was never true.

I don’t belong—not real.

Do not feel.

Followed myself here, in numb and love and fear.

Hate and pain—so clear, halfway between reality and stuck inside the dream.

Quarter turned me sideways and never stitched the seams.

Halfway human, part machine.

Halflife, pastlife, no lifetime here.

I don’t belong in this skin.

I do not belong.

Zombie, I am not welcome here.

Sorry, I am not welcome there in you.

Give it all to someone who was never true.

Zombie, take me over.

Sorry I was taken before you.
