Frozen Lullaby

Dark Poetry

Feel it shatter.

Part the trees.

Break the stars and watch them bleed.

Pale the moon and see its glow,

on deadened branches draped in snow.

Reflections trapped.

Beneath the ice,

sinners prayed not but thrice.

Freezing water takes the air from drowning flesh locked in despair.

Souls constricted within blame and lost so deep inside their shame.

Holding onto truth and lies,

this frozen heart now finally dies.

But still we beat upon the ground, in fits of rage and open sound.

Hollow is the earth below and shaken is the fragile snow.

Sinking in and crumbled out.

The filth gives way to dark and doubt.

And now we stare up from this grave, praying that we'll soon be saved.

But we know.

The black and empty keep is a silent, comforting place to sleep.

So we lay and hold our breath.

Slipped until there's nothing left.
