Mom's cameras

My mom used to carry her cameras everywhere, but know she only uses them in vacations or trips. Some are big, some small, others antique, modern ones too, expensive, two or three cheap, black and whites, also Browns, a pink that I gave her a few years ago, and a lot lot more. I don’t think “pinky” is her favorite but you bet it’s mine! Every camera you could imagine she has it or planning to buy it as son as she finds it. Every person that gets to know her collection compliments the cameras, but she is always saying, “ The cameras are not the important ones but the lenses” and anyone knows that until she tells them. Honestly I don’t really think that people cares about this cameras; and not because they are boring but because they don’t know yet the magic in them. I used to think that everyone could take a good shot, but oh! How wrong I was. She taught me everything I know about cameras. At first it was so funny when she tried to take photos… you can’t even imagine how long she take to make a “good shot”. First she took a random photo just to see the light, then she push like a hundred buttons and then it was something like “okay smile more. No no like that. Ok perfect just a little to the right, no no! move to the left, a little more. Ok! Perfect.” And then she took the photo just exactly as we were in the first place. All the people used to stare at us (my family) because my mom always took too long to take a single shot. At first we hate that, but then we learn to enjoy it and laugh about it.  And I’m not being mean but at first she was bad. Oh boy! She really was (ptss! Don’t tell her) but eventually became an excellent photographer, however she never seem so interested in being good. It was just a hobby for her and she still enjoys it!, in her eyes she was good from the moment she first buy her first professional camera. She is now a perfectionist about all of this and sincerely pretty good at it. And I’m not saying it because I’m her daughter but because she truly is. And now I realize that it was not because of the camera’s brand, the lenses or the camera itself. It was because of her consistence and perseverance, for her passion to capture every important moment and not forget anything. Because is true some memories fade away but if you have a photo they can stay with you for a lifetime.
