Parental Intervention

I can see the junior stepping in my room.
Viewing my pictures, shoes, poems, and books;
My presence to him is beyond what many assume,
For physically, I am not around as he looks.

... but in heart, I am more than a five letter word,
D.A.D.D.Y.

I can see him smiling as he open the dresser,
Folded shirts, pants, and my fondness for rhyme;
He lays on my pillow to feel eminence of a successor,
Finding ease in my domain, which is his with time.

... but in spirit, I am more than a five letter word,
D.A.D.D.Y.

He keeps me going when I can feel so weak,
Torn by the distance poorly to a heart asunder;
There is a legitimate reason why I refuse to seek,
Thought of him have my eyes misty with droplets under.
... but in mind, He is more than a three letter word,
S.O.N.

He can feel my existence as I sense his,
No matter how far I go or what I do;
The truth is that his life must be better than this,
Innocent child of mine in the struggle too?
... but in flesh, he is more than a three letter word.
S.O.N.

He is my dear son,
I stall not rest,
Until I see him
With only the best.

I am his beloved daddy
And nothing else'd make me happy.
