I tried to paint a picture of you in my mind

It was not so long ago but it seems like years

I remember yesterday I was left behind

But suddenly I woke and there were no more tears



Always thought it would be hard to get over you

Each night I would pray for a better tomorrow

To wake up with memories no longer of you

But now that I’ve achieved it a felt some sorrow



For when I close my eyes and try to see your face

When I try to remember your gaze and your smile

When I try to go back to our once happy place

I cannot see a thing, not even for a while



I then felt that this is how it is to forget

Never thought that it will somehow come with regret
