My Apocalypse

My Apocalypse

Rooted in insight of youth quickly lost

Warmth and love found frozen in frost

Tears slowly fall and drown the globe

Blanketing the earth in a watery robe

And still the ice remains on the face

My frightening new discourse on the human race

Expressions are stony with no intent

Like the heart of the old slowly spent

Humanity hidden in depths of a cave

Facing the wall and shackled a slave

Watching distorted shadows dance

Too ashamed to take a chance

Sitting alone with the sun at our back

Never knowing of all that we lack

Blinded by fear, hatred, and pride

From our own hearts we often do hide.

"He who trusts in his heart is a fool, but whoever walks wisely will be delivered" Proverbs 28;28
