Lay Thee Down

Lay Thee Down

Come lay thee down, within the night

Within that silver darkness fall,

And lend thy cares to softened dreams,

And think not upon thy duties call.

Come lay thy head upon my breast.

Entwine these fingers through thy hair,

Rest thy strength and still they sight,

And sink unto that ember's flare.

Delve thou down unto this heat,

Surrender in the still of night,

To burn with thee down through the ages,

On passion's wing our souls take flight.

So lay thee down, within my love,

And cast thy cares this night aside,

And know thee that when comes the morn

Here thy love shall still abide.
