Cinders

Somber cinders I do sweep

As my heart lays down to weep

Embers dying losing glow

Windows whisper drifting snow

Broken body strong for heart

Endless work prevents the start

Scents of wood and spices drift

Praying that my heart won't shift

Ashes on the floor once told

Stories when the wood burned gold

Licking flames showing our truth

Lost adventures of our youth

Sweeping memories and soot

Filling holes the heart output

Slaving through the hollow pain

Preparing for the fiery reign

Hearth now empty time renewed

Weeping heart will soon conclude

Flame ignites timber once more

Stunning warmth settles the score
