LEFT ALONE

MEMORIES

Here on this shore with seabirds calling,

with silver sea spray falling, falling,

sand that is shimmering in the sun

on this lonely beach where we used to run,

shells scattered along the water's edge

white frilled waves fall on a rocky ledge,

it's here that I feel your presence the most.

We spent such sweet summers on this coast.

I see your face shaped above by the cloud,

dear face enwrapped in a mist-formed shroud.

Your eyes, were the hue of the deep blue sea,

from the glint on a wave they beckon to me

reminding me of the days that we shared,

my dearest friend, how very much we cared.

I miss you so much now that your days are done.

I'm left alone grieving on this beach in the sun.
