UNDER LIDDED EYES

UNDER LIDDED EYES

I heard this morning, rising,

From the March wind blowing

A voice in the crystal air,

Lament the world was crying,

Time was not in the clock,

No diety chimed no gods gonged,

I knew the whiteness over the earth,

Under lidded eyes sang the world.

Every single day I make,

In bed the bad and good ole world

After a dream in my face I live,

The life and death staged at once,

Lucid, gargantuan and vividly real,

Everyone’s earthen sod where we dwell,

Where horses fly and we gull the seas,

And prophet’s roam under vaulted dome,

And my eyelids ring and sing like belles.
