The Beach

Feel the surf caress the toes

Hear the gulls flying above

Watch the seals laze on the shore

Express the universal love

Stretch out, sand beneath the back

Wade into the crystal blue

Salute the dolphins as they pass

Let the air revive anew

Count the shells and smooth white stones

Watch the waves roll in and out

Stay to watch the sun go down

Hear the thunder’s distant shout

Watch the clouds turn slowly black

Feel the wind drag at the feet

Try to climb the hill in vain

Feel skin and ice-cold water meet

Be swept away, tossed here and there

Choke and flounder as it rains

Glimpse the land retreat away

Feel the shivers, chills and pains

See the lightening from below

Feel big fish tickle the legs

Sink down into the deep black mass

As though in jug, the ale’s last dregs

Give up, become one with the dark

Now food for passing claws and teeth

Enjoy nature’s vast paradise

Respect her raging hell beneath
