THE FAIRY TALE DRIVE

As we drove out of Florida on our way up to NC.

I was amazed at how many Fairy Tale people the two of us did see.

We didn’t start out looking for them at the beginning of the day

But we noticed they kept appearing and popping up along the way.

As we pulled out of the driveway we turned and then we slowed

Because a white rabbit in a hurry scurried across the road.

We didn’t think too much of it—you wouldn’t think that we would

Until later we saw a young girl walking while wearing a red hood.

No she wasn’t carrying a basket of goodies…I mean for goodness sake

But later we did see a coyote…that’s like a wolf…so give me a break!

Then our curiosity got the better of us and I don’t know what I meant

But we started looking for Fairy Tales everywhere we went.

In a rest stop this side of Georgia, yes we were still in the southeast

We saw a beautiful woman walking the ugliest dog--one beauty and one beast.

In Valdosta we decided to take the back roads to get away from those big rigs

When in front of us was a pick-up truck hauling—wait for it—3 pigs.

Getting out of our car at a gas station we saw a woman with black hair and eyelids

And getting out behind her was her husband and 7 kids.

Driving a little Honda by herself was a girl with golden hair

And the sticker on her bumper read I heart the Chicago Bears.

As we stopped for the evening at the end of the day we were both so tired and beat

Riding up in the elevator with us was a woman with long hair down to her feet.

Just outside out hotel room as we bid the day adieu

A maid was working down the hallway with two others telling her what to do.

This morning watching the news with the morning sunrise glowing

We watched senators and representatives shut the government down and saw their noses growing

As we left the hotel we had to laugh at these sights we couldn’t discard

And we wondered when we reached NC…will there be a beanstalk in our back yard.

If you think this sounds too unbelievable, Hey, what fairy tale doesn’t?

And when we looked to see if the beanstalk was there…unfortunately it wasn’t.
