In a world with so much evil around us
making many days difficult to cope…
I am grateful that I will never lose
my ability to hope.
They can try through their hate their prejudice their bigotry
to sow seeds of desperation, sorrow and doubt
but no matter how much water they throw on the fire that is my hope
they shall never put it out
