Amanda and the Sea.

Once upon a time in a faraway land under the sea there was a mermaid named Amanda. She had lost both of her parents during a devastating oil spilt many years ago. From that day on she has lived with her aunt Kara, who was her late mother’s sister. Ever since her parents died she had promised herself that one day she would find the animals responsible for their death and for ruining the sea. She spent every day figuring out how she was going to escape from Aunt Kara’s house and swim away to the ocean’s limits. She wanted to see the world and the creatures that had destroyed her life, or what she knew as life. Before the terrible accident, the place where she lived was full of colors, love, fairness and happy sea animals. Every day she would get up and swam to school with her friends. Sadly, one day during her way back home she began to see how every single color in her world was gone. There were no colors left in the oceans streets, neither all the sea vegetation nor friends she greeted every day. When Amanda finally managed to get home, she found herself in a black and grey blur that was nothing comparable to her house. Looking for her parents was meaningless; it was obvious they had not survived the oil spilt. She felt confused and angry at the same time. She could not bare the thought of knowing that in a blink of an eye almost everything was gone along with her parents. It had been the end, the end of her known world, her family and friends. And so she swam, until she saw a little fish, when she reached him she said to him:
“Hey You! Oh my god, are you ok? Damn I haven’t seen anything more than death and misery! What’s your name?” Amanda said.
“Hey my name is Nemo, I can’t find my father! There’s nothing left of my home!”
“Me too, my dolphin friend Fliper just died! Why is it so dark? And what is that putrid smell?”< /span>
“I think is the bodies” Nemo said
“We should go, maybe we can still die if we are here, and I don’t want that”
“Who did this to us? This isn’t fair, I want revenge!”
“I want revenge to Nemo, but I think this was the humans fault!”
“The humans again? When are going to leave us alone? We have done nothing to them and they still ruin our home!”
“I know Nemo, I know, one of these days we will have our revenge on them but until…Nemo? Where are you going?”
“Out of here, I don’t want to be here!”
“WAIT FOR ME!”
And so they went, with their home destroyed and no family left, they never stopped swimming, they never stopped searching for a new home, a place that they, sadly, never found.
