A Pull I Can’t Defy

In catatonic moments, I live beside

Connections that feel like bent cable wires;

Once transmitting something clear,

Now only noise twisting through my thoughts.

I wanted something like gravity,

Binding, inherent, a pull I can’t defy;

Steady and strong, beyond all doubt,

Unwavering, never giving out.

So I carry this wildest hope with me,

Not loud, not certain, but enough to stay;

That somewhere beyond this tangled static,

Someone will choose me… and mean it that way.

Author's Notes/Comments:

A poem about wanting real connection instead of empty relationships and forced friendships.
