At The Gospel's Good Mood

[after John 3:30]

Christ Jesus must increase, and I decrease.
The Gospel will command my anger:  cease.
When bad thoughts come upon me in a swarm,
and stir up in my soul a raging storm,
He will pronounce upon it His sure peace;
and what was once contrary, crude, and ill,
will be just like the lake----placid and still.
At His Word's light, each sordid shadow flees.
And in His spiritual refinery's
processes, I am transformed by degrees
into the kind of Christian that will please
my Lord and God, Who rules eternity's
immeasurable vastness that His Graces fill.
Through this, my fears find complete release.
