At The Apostle Saint Paul's Hired House In Rome

[after Acts 28]

Bringing the news of Christ to all the parts
and provinces of Rome's far-flung empire
became---from early thrills of faith---your heart's
constant delight and spiritual desire.
Now, in a Roman house of your own hire;
chained always to an often surly guard;
curtailed of all but slight mobility,
without the privilege of least privacy---
you find new blessings that relieves such hard
arrangements.  Souls, by faith saved, in the Lord
are, therefore, not bound "in" mere circumstance,
nor subject to the whims of random chance.
Christ turns you from the temporary toward
your seat with Him among the Heavenlies:
and, as you think on this, your burdens ease.
