A CHILD PASSED BY

Long pressing

Bears the weight of the falling world around me

Over tinkered days and hollowed years

Has the growing spiral of downward turn

Unwound before my eyes

As my heart and mind

Have weathered

And my soul and will

Have crumbled…bit by bit

To the sorrowed step of unkept time

And I

I have stood as if motionless

Looking on

While the blackened vines of ignorance

And the fettered thorns of foolish greed

Have smothered, as would seem, all before me

And while I sat in huddled desperation

Seeking not but to continue on in mere existence

A child passed by…

And suddenly I felt to leave all behind

And follow
