Nuances: Property Master, London, 1888

[after kilpshutz's poem, "Guilty W? An Explanation #2,"

quoted By Patrick Denton Mackay in

This Drawb & Quartered Moon]

The fog was the best

prop---lending atmosphere and

concealment.  The knife,

the stinking streets, and those whores---

terrified beyond telling:

these were good props too.

But the blood---that was no prop!

Not out of sight (like

a memory), out of mind---

but never ever---

not ever out of my soul!

Author's Notes/Comments:

Again citing Mokichi Saito as precedent for the lengthened Tanka.
