Testimony Of A Soldier At Golgotha, Yesterday

[after John 7:30; 10:17-18; 16:16, 22; 19:30; and 1 Peter 1:20]

I thought:  this one, that we have crucified,
was not the victim of a swift blindside---
manipulated by the low high priest.
No, not at all:  this Galilean man
was taking part in some more ancient plan
that ages and kingdoms have not defeated;
nor has mankind's poor show of faith diminished
it, which awaited him, in its full power---
ready for what they say he called his hour.
Then, as it was accomplished and completed,
he told us, as he died, that it was finished.
Since all  this came to pass, just as he said
it must, I do not doubt (not in the least)
that he will not be long among the dead.
