Pop Stevens, Possum Eliot, Bill Knott, and Mary Shelley---
on this ninth day of the ninth Roman month, November,
let us pause for more than a moment and really remember
that erstwhile whore of Whitechapel, Mary Kelly
(prostitute, escort, nude model---like a stripper?)
who, victimized, resisted and killed Jack the Ripper,
leaving the mutilated corpse in her nightgown on her bed;
and from the clear gaze of history, quietly fled.
